This study found that individuals with heavy alcohol consumption are more likely to show isolated small airways obstruction. Because this is a common trait in asthma and early stages of COPD, it is important to raise awareness among both clinicians and the general population of the potential role of alcohol in the development of obstructive lung diseases.
